Alan O’Dowd and Kunal Gill lifted the Class 5 Men’s Doubles title at the Sutton Open on August 23rd. It wasn’t a free ride. They had to come through the top seeds earlier in the draw and then face the second seeds in the final—two hard assignments in one campaign. The final was handled with zero drama: straight sets, job done.
This result is about more than a trophy. It shows a partnership that’s disciplined and competitive. That matters because you’ll be seeing a lot more of them together: Alan and Kunal are paired for Senior League in our Class 3 team. The Sutton win is a perfect launchpad for that run.
Credit to the Sutton organisers and to the supporters who turned up across the week. If you were there, you know the standard. If you weren’t, keep an eye on the fixture list—these two are worth watching. Home or away, add the dates to your calendar and come make some noise.
Bottom line: tough route, top opposition, straight-sets final. That’s a serious win. On we go to Senior League—same pairing, same intent.
Congratulations Alan and Kunal
