Welcome to our Junior Ladder Competition—a fun, social, and competitive event running year-round at Portmarnock Tennis Club. The ladder format encourages regular match play, meeting new players and partners, and improving your game in a relaxed but structured environment.
Players are divided into two ladder groups—Green Ball and Yellow Ball—based on their age and current junior sessions.
Players are encouraged to play as many matches as they like. The more matches you play, the more points you can earn to climb the ladder.
Matches are played up to 12 games or 1 hour, whichever comes first.
Every game won counts as one point per player, whether it’s singles or doubles.
For example, in a 6–5 result:
Each player on the winning side receives 6 points.
Each player on the losing side receives 5 points.
Games lost are also tracked and used to finalise ladder rankings. The more games you win—and the fewer you lose—the higher your potential rank.
If a match reaches 6–6, each player (in singles or doubles) receives 6 points. Players can play a tiebreak for fun if time allows, but it will not change the match result.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact others in your group to arrange matches.

Players should meet at a mutually agreed time for all matches.
If pairings haven’t been arranged in advance, you can use the pairing generator on court to decide teams.
After each match, one parent or guardian should submit the result using the form at the bottom of this page.
Please ensure results are only submitted once to avoid double counting.
